Barbara Myers earned her AA degree from Western Piedmont Community College, a BA degree in Sociology/Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and an MSW degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked for the state of North Carolina for twenty-eight years, which includes experience in a DD facility, in the prison system, and in a psychiatric hospital.  Duties and responsibilities have included assessment, evaluation, consultation and referral, resource mobilization, administration and clinical supervision, program planning and development, and direct care. She has also been a part-time instructor at the Social Service Department of a local community college for several years up through the present. 

Ms. Myers has served as the Social Work Department Director since March 1996. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina and certified by the National Academy of Certified Social Work.
