George Henry Krebs, Jr., MD, graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in 1981. From 1981 until 1984 he completed internships/residencies in family practice. He was in private practice in family medicine from July 1984 until June 1985. From July 1985 until June 1988 he completed a psychiatry residency at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston Salem, NC.
Dr. Krebs was in private practice in adult and adolescent psychiatry in Myrtle Beach, SC from 1988 until 1993. While at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Conway, South Carolina, Dr. Krebs served as medical director at the Residential Treatment Center from January 1989 until September 1992, medical director of the Adult Psychiatric Program from July 1991 until July 1992, and medical staff president from January 1990 until January 1992. He was employed at Broughton Hospital in May 1993 as a staff psychiatrist on the Adult Admissions Division. While on the Adult Admissions Division, he served as director of the division from March 1995 until August 1998 and director of psychiatric services from August 1998 until September 2004. Dr. Krebs was appointed interim Director of Clinical Services at Broughton Hospital on September 1, 2004 and the Director of Clinical Services on June 21, 2005. During his tenure at Broughton Hospital, he served as president of the Medical/Psychology Staff from July 1996 until June 1998. He is currently a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and is actively involved in the supervision of psychiatric residents.
