Jonathon Berry, Chief of Support Services, Broughton Hospital




		Jonathon F. Berry recently joined the staff of Broughton Hospital as Chief of Support Services. He is a graduate of the Henry Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications, Telecommunications and a minor in Computer Science. For a twelve-year period of time until mid-2003, Mr. Berry was employed with the Burke County Office of Emergency Services, Division of Communications, as the Telecommunication Coordinator. He was initially employed by Burke County to coordinate, direct and monitor Burke County’s transition into the Enhanced 911 environment. In this role, Mr. Berry was responsible for developing, coordinating and disseminating all new hire and continuing education training for his program area.

Mr. Berry has been a certified Associated Public-Safety Communications Officer Instructor since 1992. In 1997 he developed an in-house training and certification program, in conjunction with the EMS ACLS Training Coordinator and the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS), for Telecommunicator certification as Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD). This program is the only “in-house” EMD program approved and in operation within the State of North Carolina.

Mr. Berry has extensive experience in the promotion, coordination and delivery of program-specific presentations to public and private sector organizations. He operated in the capacity of Public Information Officer for over eight years, assisting the Burke County Office of Emergency Services in building strong and mutually respectful media relations. In addition, he is well versed in Windows based computer application programs and computer oriented literature, software and system operations.

Mr. Berry took the leadership role in the planning and implementation of Burke County’s Computer-Aided Dispatch/Records Management System (CAD/RMS) Project serving in the capacity of Project Manager and Systems Administrator for Burke County, coordinated and chaired a multi-jurisdictional, multi-agency Public Safety Group and assisted the County and its municipalities in the acquisition, training and utilization of Open-Software Solutions Inc. (OSSI) CAD/RMS product.

Broughton Hospital is pleased to have had Mr. Berry join it’s Leadership Group in August, 2003. He will be a major contributor in helping the hospital to assure that necessary supports are provided in the service of the clinical mission.
