The Department of Nursing has overall responsibility for management/oversight of all nursing activities within Broughton Hospital.  The Department establishes nursing standards, evaluates nursing practice, establishes staffing requirements, ensures competence of nursing staff, and develops programs to maximize the quality of nursing care provided in a safe, therapeutic, progressive environment.  As a member of the hospital’s Leadership Group, the Chief Nurse Executive provides input in planning and formulation of policy, and participation in the hospital’s decision-making at the broadest level.

Nursing Administration provides clinical coordination of nursing services and promotes collaborative working relationships among divisions, programs, and departments throughout the hospital.  The foundation of our nursing philosophy is that we provide high quality nursing care to all Broughton Hospital patients. Our nursing care is delivered systematically, utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.  We recognize that every patient should be recognized and respected as an individual with physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Each patient has the potential for change and should be provided with opportunities to assist movement from the present to the optimal level of functioning.
