A registered dietitian manages the overall foodservice operation at Broughton Hospital, overseeing everything from food purchasing and preparation to managing staff. Food is prepared in the main kitchen of the Hooper building and distributed to three serving areas for distribution to patient wards. |

Clinical dietitians work directly with patients to assess fornutritional problems and special needs during admission. They complete nutritional assessments, provide nutrition education both individuallyand in-group settings and serve as members of the patient's treatmentteam. |

Meals are also prepared for the Employee's Cafeteria, which is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday. |

Broughton Hospital Nutritional Services provides training for students in dietetic internship programs at Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University for food service administration and clinical nutrition rotations.
