Patient Financial Services

Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Insurance, HMO, third party payer, deductible, co-pay, etc. These words alone make most of us agonize in an attempt to understand their concept and purpose.  The thought of trying to apply these “essentials” to our daily life creates even more trepidation for most of us.  Chances are all of us have at some point, had an occasion to be faced with attempting to understand and apply one of the benefits mentioned above to our personal situation through a Physician’s Office visit or hospitalization.  For the patients and their families who are served at Broughton Hospital, our Patient Financial Services Department strives to minimize the stress by offering unique services.

Glenda Cannon

Director

The primary responsibility of the Patient Financial Services Department is to interact with each patient on an individual basis to determine their financial situation and obtain necessary insurance information.  Through direct patient interviews, a determination is made regarding available benefits and billing information is established accordingly.  The staff of this department is considerate of patient needs while striving to maximize receipt collection appropriately.

The Department consists of Mrs. Glenda Cannon who is the Director, four Patient Relations Representatives and one Processing Assistant.  The Department is located on the first floor of the south side of the Avery Building.  The Department can be reached at 828-433-2415
