Pharmacy Services

The Pharmacy Department is committed to providing comprehensive, progressive pharmaceutical services, based on available resources, to the inpatient population at Broughton Hospital.  Pharmaceutical services in this regional North Carolina State-operated psychiatric hospital include provision of services to the following age groups:  Adolescent (Ages 12 to 18), Adult (Ages 19 to 64), and Geriatric (Ages 65 and over). Diagnoses in this population include acute and chronic psychiatric disorders, and various dual diagnoses. Many patients in this population have concurrent medical disorders, which  require medical monitoring or interventions. Therefore, the scope of medications utilized in the treatment of this population includes a wide range of both psychiatric and medical medications. Pharmacy services provided at Broughton Hospital include clinical pharmacy services, distributive services, and administrative services.
