The Psychology Department is made up of psychologists, psychological associates, 4 predoctoral interns, and 1 Dual Diagnosis Counselor. Psychologists and Psychological Associates provide an array of services including, but not limited to, psychosocial interventions such as individual and group psychotherapy, functional analysis and behavioral planning, clinical assessment/evaluation and psychotherapeutic services for patients and their families; treatment program design and evaluation; consultation to hospital personnel and community agencies; training of hospital personnel, supervision of psychology interns and practicum students; and research, consultation on research design, data analyses and dissemination of research findings. Psychologists also typically serve on the Hospital's interdisciplinary treatment teams and on a variety of hospital and Medical and Psychology Staff committees. The Dual Diagnosis Counselor performs substance use assessments on newly admitted patients and is active in leading PSI groups in the area of Dual Diagnosis and Relapse Prevention. The Predoctoral Psychology Interns participate in Broughton Hospital’s APA-accredited internship program which provides a generalist training that includes both inpatient and outpatient sites. Within the hospital, the Predoctoral Psychology Interns are supervised in their provision of services across the three divisions. They are most active in psychological assessments, individual, family and group psychotherapy.
