Intervening, with the authority to immediately stop work or the process in question, whenever conditions pose an immediate threat to life or health or threaten damage to equipment or buildings.
In cooperation with the Human Resources Department and the Staff Development Department, assisting in the training of employees with regard to the safety policies and the safety program.
Investigating and reporting in-house accidents and updating the in-house accident reporting system, as needed.
Compiling and reporting applicable accident figures for local, state and federal records.
Providing assistance, as applicable, to the Purchasing Officer in the acquisition of equipment, supplies, and machinery so as to meet safety-related needs and concerns.
Serving as a member of the Safety and Health Committee.
Making recommendations to hospital management concerning needed changes in the safety policies.
Providing monthly reports to the Safety and Health Committee and to hospital and departmental management.
Maintaining the hospital's safety library, Safety and Health Committee minutes, reports on completed monthly safety checklists, aggregate safety data, and safety suggestion actions.
