Vivian Streater, Broughton’s Chief Nurse Executive since 1996, is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in the mountains of Watauga County. Mrs. Streater has had over twenty-two years of experience in nursing leadership positions in various levels of health care administration, most of which has been in the field of mental health.

Mrs. Streater received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Management and Health Service Management; and currently is pursuing a Ph.D. in Education, Human Resources Development. In addition to her expertise in developing and managing programs in psychiatric centers, Mrs. Streater enjoys sharing her experiences and knowledge with other health professionals, having served as adjunct instructor in two schools of nursing programs as well as being a frequent presenter at various mental health conferences.

Mrs. Streater, who holds a nationally recognized certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, is also avidly involved with her community, having served as a volunteer in several school organizations in both Florida and North Carolina. She holds memberships in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and North Carolina Nurses Association, and has been elected board member for the North Carolina Psychiatric Nurses Association. She and her family reside in Burke County.
