William F. Brown, III serves as Broughton Hospital's Safety and Communications Director.  Mr. Brown began work at Broughton in June 1979 as a health care technician, followed by tours of duty as the supervisor of the laundry, a certified nursing assistant, and a patient relations representative.  He has served as Safety and Communications Director since 1993.   Mr. Brown's responsibilities include development and administration of the hospital's safety program, and oversight of the environment of care functions of safety, fire safety, security, emergency management, and hazardous materials and waste.   Duties in communications include coordination of the hospital's radio network, pager operations, and cell phones.  Mr. Brown serves on the hospital's Safety and Health Committee, Performance Improvement Function Committee, Environment of Care Function Committee, Human Resources Function Committee, Healthy Opportunities Please Employees (HOPE) Committee, Crisis Management Team Committee, and is a member of the Hospital Management Team.  He also represents Broughton Hospital on the Burke County Emergency Medical Services Quality Review Committee and the Burke County Homeland Security Committee.
